Two Dead In Abuja Incident – At least two people has confirmed dead as a two-storey plaza located on Lagos Street, Garki Village in the Garki District of the nation’s capital, Abuja, collapsed.

Dr. Abbas Idriss, The Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), confirmed the collapse incident late on Wednesday. According to the news, the building collapsed during the heavy rain fall in the Federal Capital Territory.

Until now, number of 37 people have been rescued, with two of them “badly injured”, according to emergency responders.

However, The rescue operations had been slow over the night as there was no immediate access to an excavator. As stated by Idriss, He said about Thirty-Seven persons have been rescued and evacuated to hospital, others reportedly still trapped.

The Rescue team and others are on ground and the operations are slowly due to ongoing rain. However, They are making doing their best at getting an excavator to remove people from the rubble.

The Rescue team has promised to put their best efforts towards making sure that people are been rescued out of this ugly situation.

Nevertheless, According to reliable information, the building collapsed while there was a heavy downpour in the Federal Capital Territory. As it stands, at least two persons have been confirmed dead, Hence three others still trapped.

Just a month ago, a four-storey building also collapsed in the Life Camp area of the city with many badly injured. It’s unfortunate that in some Nigerian cities Building collapse is a common occurrence.

However, Rescue operation are ongoing as the search for more victims. Currently, Both the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps,(FRSC) and the FCT Police Command are combined.

According to the information, the agency’s Search and Rescue team is awaiting excavators to intensify the search and ensure no victim is left in the rubble.

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike had visited the area as efforts are intensified to rescue the trapped persons.
